Reclaiming Indigenous Culture

KAYÂS-ISÎHCIKÊWIN

Background of a Tipi

Standing up to protect Indigenous spaces is an essential act of respect and solidarity. Protecting these spaces ensures that future generations can heal, and learn to love themselves as Indigenous People.

As Indigenous People, we need to go back and learn our languages, ceremonies and cultural ways and find a way to be rooted in our ancestral knowledge and wisdom as we navigate a colonial world.

When we know where we come from and know who we are, we can reclaim our sense of identity as Indigenous People. Understanding our roots will provide us with a deeper connection to our ancestors, traditions, and values. By embracing our cultural heritage, we can foster a sense of belonging and community.

A people without the knowledge of their past history,

origin and culture is like a tree without roots.
